Free Fun!
I am still learning the art of keeping a 2 year old entertained during the course of the day. Today, with Lamby and AJ in tow, we carefully selected some rocks from our yard, loaded them in Olivia's grocery cart, and headed down to the magnificent lake ... errr.. retaining pond (but she won't realize that until she comes home from college one day) by our house. When we got there, we threw the rocks in the lake. Yes, that's it. Then we did it again.

Do you have your favorite FREE FUN spots??

What a classy looking stroller!! hee hee! So, there's not much to do around here in rural WR, actually, there's not even ONE community park! So we take Canon to the new Elementary Schools' playgrounds during non-school hours. I am not sure if that's allowed or not! I figure that our tax dollars pay for it anyways!!

Your slipping Leah! Where is Olivia's hairbow?

Throwing rocks in a pond is such a fun thing for kids!

Give the kids hugs and kisses!!!

I love you all.

We have a "ducky" pond that Kayla likes to go to and feed the ducks and geese bread. I hadn't thought about having her look for rocks and then throw them in the water. I know she would get a kick out of that.

We go to Barnes and Noble and play with their train set and read books. We go to the library where they also have a train set, big blocks, and of course lots of books. We go to the park and places like Chick-fil-A that have the playground area (if you don't buy anything like we've done a few times, it's free -- is that bad to use their fun stuff without buying anything?).

I'm going to have to check back for others' comments so I can get some new ideas.

I have to say, my favorite thing to do with kids Olivia's age is "Water painting" as my mom calls it. Just give 'em a paint brush - really any size - and a cup of water. She can paint the deck, the house, the driveway, her outdoor toys, her leg, etc. - just make sure you explain that the paint will magically disappear if she's the type to expect you to cherish her artwork forever - I learned that the hard way with one little boy :)

Looks like a lot of fun!! We don't have a playground at the apartment, so sometimes we let Micah just sit in the patch of grass out front a play with a golf ball.

Sometimes FREE things are the most fun...for kids & mommy!!! :) We frequent the many parks around, visit the farmers market (although its hard to leave without buying anything) and walk down to the stream down our road to look for frogs...of which we just look!!! I am convinced with creativity & excitement, kids can make almost anything fun!!
