Potty Training

Potty training season is upon us! The busy summer is behind us, and while most children are gearing up for the schoolhouse, we are gearing up for the outhouse :) Ha! Olivia's first day of official potty training began today, and thanks to a few great ideas from my good friend - the early childhood expert-- Stephanie Steinbart, it went pretty well. Nevermind the fact that she never once "went" in the potty-- she still rounded up a lot of stickers on her chart!

Good Reading Material-- a must for serious potty time.

Olivia gets a sticker on her chart everytime she tries. She will get a sucker when she actually goes.. maybe tomorrow!!??

Yay!! You will be SO happy when this is over. Trust me on that one! Although, 7 months after the fact, Can had an accident at a friend's house yesterday. He said he was just too busy playing. hmmm. Press on, friend, it will be so worth it! I love her stickers!:) So would Canon! Have you seen all the new Little Einsteins toys at Target? Way cute! Give little buddy a squeeze for me! Is he zipping around the room yet? I can't wait to see y'all again!

Bravo! Yuck, I absolutely HATE potty training. We have been in a constant state of it for the past two years (seeing as we have a 4, 2 and 1 yr olds). Joseph is potty training himself. Hallelujah!

My greatest tip or personal discovery. A potty training basket in the bathroom. Have lots of clean pullups or big girl panties in there with wipes, books and stickers. It helped having everything so close and in one spot!

Best of luck

Also....I would NEVER use a potty chair again. I did a potty chair with Hannah. It was messy, and when we went over to someone's house or to a store she would panic and cry b/c she had to use a real toilet. So, for my last two we use a toilet insert. Dora to be exact. Love it. Then they have travel ones you can keep in the diaper bag. Makes transition much easier.

Also, Hannah would just panic if the toilets were auto flush. I read in parenting magazine that if you spit on a square of toilet paper and put it in front of the light it will not flush. Boy has that been a blessing! No more panicking :)

You are embarking upon the very trenches of motherhood, my friend!!! These next weeks/months??? may seem like an eternity, but in the end (ha! no pun intended) it is SUCH a relief when those undies stay nice and dry!!! :) The same type of poster graced my bathroom door for quite some time! We will be the illustrations for Miss Stephanie's "FAIL-PROOF" potty training book someday!!! :)
I also just saw the Einstein toys at Target. Let me tell you, they would make GREAT motivational toys. You can get a little set (2 of the kids) for $5.

Love AJ's hair!!! I have yet to cut Jack's.
